Thus says the Lord:

“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation and bitter weeping,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted for her children,
Because they are no more.”

Little has changed across two millennia in the Middle East; today, as in the time of Christ, mothers weep for their children, killed by tyrants who seek to control what they fear will otherwise destroy them.
