When Discussing Fair Use, a number of factors are involved..
*Grumpy Opinions was set up as a platform for members to:
Express their opinions about current events, a right protected by the First Amendment
Frequently these articles will contain quotes or excerpts from other sources, standard practice is to make it obvious the quoted material came from another source by including the name of the source, inserting an easy to find link back to the originating website and using quote blocks, indentation or some other method to make it clear to readers that the author of the Grumpy Opinions Article was not the author of the quoted portion. Authors are encouraged to use the minimum amount of borrowed content necessary to make their point, and give the reader a reason to visit the originating website
Educate people so they can make informed decisions about what’s happening in the world around them.
Provide links to articles on other websites and media outlets we believe our members and readers will find important, interesting and informative.
Typically these posts contain a excerpt, and since we hope our readers to read the entire article, we provide an easy to find link to the originating site.. We believe the use of images encourages people to visit the originating site.. especially when the images are part of the original article. However we do sometimes use images from other sources..
We will not use any content if, for any reason, we suspect it will deprive someone of income or traffic to their website..
Grumpy Opinions is a totally Non Commercial, Non-Profit Website:
There is no advertising on Grumpy Opinions
The website is not affiliated with and receives no funding from any political party, political action group, candidate, business interest, special interest organization or other outside sources.. If a Grumpy Opinions Member believes in a candidate, or issue, they are more than welcome to express that support in an article.. Their opinion does not necessarily reflect the opinion of other members, or the editors. If it came to the editors attention that an author had received compensation for supporting or opposing an issue, they would lose their posting privileges.
Grumpy Opinions has No Paid Authors or Employees. The editors and contributors are simply exercising their First Amendment Rights, volunteering their time, their energy and absorbing any costs they incur themselves..
Expenses, primarily hosting costs, site design and some occasional technical services are paid for out of pocket by some of the senior members. None of these members have any affiliation with political party, political action group, candidate, business interest, special interest organization. Most are registered to vote as independents… The cost of running the site is not claimed as a tax deduction by anyone.. Since the site has no income, there is no reason for it to apply for tax exempt status..
At some time in the future Grumpy Opinions may put a “Tip Jar” on the website to help defer hosting, and other expenses..

* Grumpy Opinions was created as a platform for conservatives to express their opinions. Many of the original members felt their views were not represented by the Mainstream Media. They had seen their opinions removed from MSM sites thousands of times. This was due to abuse reports filed by trolls attempting to silence conservative voices. When brought to the attention of the media outlets, they would always review and restore the items that had been removed, and frequently block usernames that abused the abuse reporting system. The trolls simply set up new usernames and kept on trolling.
The media editor at one news site reported that he’d blocked over 300 user names from a single IP address, over a 30 day period, for filing invalid abuse reports. He added that during that 30 period, over 10,000 abuse reports had been filed from that one IP. For some reason he was unable or unwilling to simply block the IP address.
Over time it became obvious that even though they’d apologize and restore deleted material, it was time to move on.
