A Christian college located in Branson, Missouri announced that it would be severing its affiliation with Nike in lieu of the corporation’s Colin Kaepernick ad.

Jerry Davis, President of the College of the Ozarks, according to a press release issued Wednesday stated that Ozark college student athletes will no longer wear uniforms bearing the Nike the brand in response to the ad campaign  that will run during tonight’s NFL game.

…“If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them. We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform.” Dr. Marci Linson, vice president for patriotic activities and dean of admissions, oversees patriotic activities at the College and safeguards the College’s patriotic goal: to encourage an understanding of American heritage, civic responsibilities, love of country, and willingness to defend it….

Last year, College of the Ozarks instituted a “No pledge, No Play” rule which applies to Ozark’s athletes, coaches, etc. and that of the opposing team.

…The school calls it, “No pledge, No Play,” and school president Jerry C. Davis said he has no problem taking his ball and going home. The school has revised its contracts in competitions in all sports to reflect the pledge.

“We want to make it clear that we are not going to participate in a game where we think disrespect for the national anthem or the flag is being displayed…I don’t think it’s a partisan issue. It’s an American issue, how we feel about our country….”

Ozarks went even further last year by making it mandatory that all freshmen in the college’s Patriotic Education and Fitness” programThe class, introduced in 2017 will, “educate students on modern military customs, American politics, and flag protocol and procedures.”

Of course, the usual suspects are levying allegations of racism on twitter.  Good luck with that.
