Marriage between a man and a woman is a definition, not a bias.
I do not believe in gay marriage. I care about gay people and want them treated fairly, but it is not fair for them to change the definition of marriage. I believe in gay unions with the same legal protections and rights of a married couple.
Changing the definition of marriage runs the risk of forever altering the foundation on which this important institution has been built, trivializing it.
Gay marriage will one day infringe on religious liberty. It is inevitable. I could see it becoming a bias crime to believe marriage is defined as between a man and a woman. Churches or synagogues espousing this belief will be sued for not marrying LGBTs or they will be demonized and ostracized as haters and bigots. It is happening now.
Christians believe that marriage is for the purpose of procreation, that does not mean artificial insemination or adoption, it means procreation between two partners, one male and one female.
It is also defined in the bible:
Marriage between a man and a woman was instituted by God with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:24 states: “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
In Matthew 19:4-5, Jesus reaffirms: “He answered, ‘Have you not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one’?”
Marriage provides a spiritual and legal foundation for the family. The Koran has the same definition. It is a well-established Jewish tradition.
This has been the belief of many for thousands of years.
